A child who is given the gift of music is a child who is given an artistic voice. Music is a freeing way to communicate to others and learn about the world around us. Because of this, music has been a core subject placed alongside math and language as one of the quadrivial arts since the Medieval Ages. Many studies show that children and teenagers who pursue music perform better in school, are less likely to use drugs, and have high percentages of college graduates as you can see in the following article: http://www.childrensmusicworkshop.com/advocacy/benefits.html.
I am currently accepting violin students for the new school year. I teach students from ages 4 to adult. Lessons take place once a week at my house and can be 30 min, 45 min, or an hour. I taylor lessons to each student and pride myself with providing lessons that reflect the unique strengths and tastes of each student while at the same time teaching them good technique and giving them a classical background. We have recitals twice a year, our largest and most formal recital being at Christmas time. Any student who has prepared a piece and would like to share their music is welcome to participate. Family and friends are invited and we have a reception afterwards. If you or someone you know is interested in beginning, continuing, or even just trying out the violin, give me a call at (909) 240-6416.
